When they become leather hard, I clean the edges and put the holes in them. This button design is put through the bisque fire at cone 04 before I glaze them for the glaze fire. I used underglaze to add color to the lines and details, wiped it back and then used a combination of 2 glazes for a great surface that is not too matte or too glossy. I fire them again at cone 6. This process vitrifies the clay, which makes them strong, and makes the glaze colors vibrant and rich. These buttons are great for knitting, crocheting, or sewing.
